Most hardcore Diablo fans have been waiting on the first expansion pack for Diablo III every since Blizzard Entertainment revealed the much-anticipated release date for it back at Gamescom 2013. This robust expansion pack adds new content, features, and functionality to the game, and it is an add-on that many gamers feel was very necessary after Diablo III was largely considered a flop of a sequel in comparison to its predecessor Diablo II.

We all know that Diablo is one of the most epic and popular action role-playing games ever made. The problem is, Diablo I and II set such a high standard that many gamers simply weren't impressed by the leaps made (or lack of leaps made) from Diablo II to Diablo III. Of course, sales reflected this opinion and as a result Blizzard Entertainment has heeded the pleas of their gamers and has delivered a comprehensive expansion pack known as Reaper of Souls.

New Features in Reapers of Souls Expansion Pack

This initial expansion pack does a great job of improving the core of the gameplay by adding more depth to an already deep gaming experience. A Fifth Act has been added to the Diablo III plot, during which the Nephalem continue their quest by journeying to the Pandemonium Fortress to battle Malthael and his army. This feature alone provides many more hours of enjoyment to those players that are anxious to return to action after having mastered the former final level of 60. The Fifth Act brings 10 new levels (thereby raising the level cap to 70) along with a host of associated characters, opponents, and plot lines.

Another noticeable component of the pack is the addition of a new class of characters called "Crusaders", who specialize in large weaponry, defensive play, holy magic, and unique "crusader shields".

One of the most entertaining features added in the pack is adventure mode, where players can freely roam the open-world levels and take on their own dungeons and bounties at will. This is another major add-on that we're sure most players are very happy about. After all, what is a role-playing game without the ability to explore and conquer!

A new artisan has been added known as “the Mystic”. He's able to enhance the aesthetic properties of a character's equipment. This little pick-me-up helps add a bit more of a maintenance aspect to the customization side of the game.

On top of the aforementioned changes, the expansion pack also adds a variety of new skills, passive abilities, and runes for all players, and there are 10 new levels, so the highest level is now 70. Finally, once a player reaches level 70 they can unlock a fourth skill slot for “passive” skills.

With this being only the first of several expansion packs expected to be released for Diablo III, it would not be surprising to see many gamers going back to this title that was previously overlooked and criticized by many due to a weaker-than-expected release.
