The highly anticipated fourth installment to the popular series The Sims is set to release in less than four weeks on September 2nd, and the final details about the game are starting to come out. Not drifting too far from the original concept, The Sims 4 lets you create your own sim family, build a house, get jobs, and mold your sims into the people you want them to be. And, as with any new high-end game, the minimum system requirements are always subject to extensive speculation by players.

Now, EA has released these requirements, and here they are:

  • OS: Windows XP (SP3) or higher
  • Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or higher OR AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or higher
  • RAM: 2GB of RAM or higher
  • Video Card: 128MB VRAM, Pixel Shader 3.0, NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or higher OR ATI Radeon X1300 or higher
  • DirectX: DirectX 9.0c or higher
  • HDD Space: Initally 9GB, with at least 1GB for save files and custom content

As for the recommended requirements, those are still yet to be announced. Judging from these minimum requirements, it doesn't look as though The Sims 4 is really going to push high-end gaming rigs to the limit. For comparison sake, take a look at the minimum requirements for Titanfall on PC. You can see the new Sims game only requires half as much RAM, and you can get by with a weaker graphics card and processor.

Still, from what we've seen of the game in previews and gameplay videos, it looks amazing -- and definitely better than the previous installments. The Sims has always been a game that appeals to a very broad audience, and a lot of non-PC Gamers will likely pick this one up, which is why the minimum requirements may not be quite as high as other games being released.
