New Best Paid Games for iOS
This week we have awesome new games, just like last week’s best Paid and Free games. Unlike the Free games list that had many strategy games, in this one we have a variety of types. I personally enjoyed Shadowmatic, Bowling Central and The Great Uknown: Houdini’s Castle the most. So here are this week’s new top paid games:
1. Shadowmatic by TRIADA Studio, $2.99
Shadowmatic is a game I fell in love with right from the beginning. It is a unique puzzle game where you rotate abstract objects in a spotlight to find different silhouettes in each level, in projected shadows. It features 9 unique rooms and 70 levels, with different concepts and music. Speaking of music, the game did an incredible job in creating a soundtrack that is so perfect and suitable for the game; I highly recommend you to never play Shadowmatic in silent. If you love it like I did, you can get the game’s soundtrack separately on iTunes and add it to your playlist.
When you find it hard to form the correct silhouette, you can use the hints feature that will make things easier for you, but as the game says (and I completely agree): “To enjoy the game to its fullest, however, we recommend resorting to them on rare occasions only.”
The 3D graphics are especially detailed and beautiful, and the unique atmosphere that it offers will amaze you.
2. Flockers by Team17 Software Ltd, $1.99
If you’ve played “Worms” you will recognize Flockers quite easily since it is not only developed by the same team, but it also takes place in the “Worms” universe. It’s some sort of spin off, if I could use that term, in which the Sheep (that in “Worms” were used as weapons) are tires of their fate and are trying to escape with your help. You have to guide them through crushers, giant buzz-saws, deep pits full of spikes and giant swinging meat cleavers. In case you don’t avoid the traps, you’ll see the sheep turn to meatballs in a not very pleasant way. The number of levels is 60, and all of them are quite difficult I might say. There are 18 different kinds of sheep, such as zombie sheep, robot sheep, pirate sheep and skeleton sheep, which you can collect by exchanging the wool you gather during gameplay in the rewards menu. It’s a fun game with the typical “Worms” black humor. Not the best game out there but fun to waste time on.
3. Bowling Central by ROLOCULE GAMES PRIVATE LIMITED, $3.79
Bowling Central is probably the best and most talked about game on this list. The element of this game that makes it so unique is that it can turn your phone into a Wii-like remote control for Apple TV, in order to give a more realistic feeling of bowling. Of course this is a bit dangerous as it’s not that hard to throw your phone on the floor while playing, so make sure you hold your phone tight and carefully (would be a good idea to use tape as well).
Other than that, the game is really pleasant and fun, with 30 unique bowling challenges, different bowling styles, namely Straight, Hook, Curve or Custom, and 24 different bowling balls. In addition, you can change between swipe controls or motion gestures. Moreover, you can play games against your Facebook friends via online matches.
The graphics are gorgeous and realistic, while the music is equally nice. It’s a game suitable for everyone that goes one step ahead of the rest with its remote control feature.
4. Nicolas Eymerich Inquisitor - Book 2 - The Village by Microids, $4.99
This one is the sequel to the first game, Nicolas Eymerich Inquisitor - Book 1: The Plague, based on the books which carry the same name. Book 2 continues the story of an epic adventure with the main hero Eymerich fighting against dark forces. In this book the story goes like this:
“Evil and heresy have invaded Calcarès, but that is without counting on the inquisitor and his uncompromising methods for foiling the fiendish plans threatening the village. Eymerich is asked to investigate the heresy reining in Calcarès, a remote village inhabited by the worst demons the world has ever known. Eymerich will have to learn about its inhabitants’ fiendish secrets and, with the help of a handful of survivors, attempt to cleanse this village soiled by the Devil.”
If you’ve read the book then I’m sure this game will excite you (and will probably not wait for me to review it in order to play it), and for those of you who haven’t, you may have to start by playing the first game (Book 1). The graphics are great, and the game features an epic soundtrack. It also includes subtitles in various languages.
It’s a great mysterious game that tells an amazing story. Judging from the fact that the first game is also available on Android, I’m sure the sequel will soon be available for it as well.
5. The Great Unknown: Houdini's Castle by Dikobraz Games, $2.99
The Great Unknown: Houdini's Castle is one of my favorite new games so there’s no way I’d keep it out of this list, since I’m a sucker for mystery solving games. Houdini’s Castle is a Hidden Object Game with many adventures and mysteries waiting to be solved. The story is fascinating; it revolves around a plane crash on an unknown island during your honeymoon trip, which then gets worse when a psycho kidnaps your husband and you have to get him back by passing his tests and solving riddles. In the end, you’ll have uncovered Houdini’s secret past and learn a lot about his life, especially about his bright apprentice, and hopefully escape from the island. It’s fascinating, isn’t it?
During the game you’ll come across countless challenges in more than 60 levels (locations), in which you’ll have to find over 300 items, as well as play many mini games in-between. The game includes two game modes to choose from, and as a surprise it also has a Collector’s Edition that includes (among other stuff), a hidden chapter to extend your enjoyment. The only downside is that you might finish it too fast if you marathon it, but it is a great game to have nonetheless.
6. Dark Strokes: The Legend of the Snow Kingdom – A Hidden Object Mystery by Big Fish Games, Inc, Freemium (somewhat)
This incredible game has a captivating story and amazing graphics. Before saying anything about the game, let me explain that it is only partially free as you’ll need to pay to proceed after a certain point. This way you can try the game and see if it’s to your liking before deciding to continue.
The story of the game centers on Princess Adele who has been kidnapped by the ice knights. The player must go on a journey to save her by finding clues and solving puzzles. It’s a delightful game, addicting, that lets you try it before buying, although it will be hard to disappoint you.
