Short description

VolumeID is a Windows disk utility to change the label assigned to a hard drive. Each hard drive can be assigned a label that is given in the format xxxx-xxxx. The package does not change the volume ID or the drive letter assigned by Windows to the drive. Any changes to NTFS volumes will only show up once the system has been rebooted, however changed to other type of hard drive volumes will show up immediately; this the opposite way to how a re-sized partition functions. When using the NT operating system it may be less comfortable with changes and need a reboot to straighten things out the hard drive label will have been changed correctly after this.

VolumeID Key Features:

  • Change the hard drive volume in the xxxx-xxxx format
  • Will not change the assigned drive letter
  • Will not change the drive ID
  • NTFS volumes do not need to rebooted for the label change to take effect
  • Requires Windows

VolumeID is a hard drive label name changer.
