Overview

VladStudio is a freeware that automatically changes the wallpapers on your desktop and downloads more of them from Vladstudio’s website. The site offers some fascinating and waggish desktop backgrounds that are designed by Russian artist Vlad Gerasimov. The software displays a random picture or a latest one from the website. Moreover, users can double-click on the software’s tray icon that immediately changes the wallpaper on your desktop and the best part about it is that you need not worry about the screen resolution.

Installation

The process of installation is very generic and takes a few seconds. Before installing this program, make sure that at least 1.9 MB of free disk space is available on your system. Simply select the destination location for the setup, the additional tasks like creating a Desktop icon and opt to start VladStudio as soon as installation completes. You are ready to pimp up your system’s desktop. It is compatible with following operating systems: Windows 98 / 2000 / XP / Vista / 7.

Interface

This program actually does not have much of an interface. After installation, the program’s icon sits in the system tray and all the operations can be done from their only, for instance, to set a random wallpaper, set latest wallpaper, Browse Wallpapers, Vladstudio Website, Send E-card, options, and more. On clicking ‘Options’, a window is displayed from where settings can be made for notification about new wallpapers, setting interval for wallpaper updation, location for downloaded wallpapers, and choosing the wallpaper’s quality.

Pros

VladStudio Companion offers simplest way to update desktop’s background since all you have to do is double-click on the tray icon and then it will post a random wallpaper from the website. If these are not as per you liking, then you can right-click on the tray icon and choose the option ‘Set latest wallpaper’ or even better, you can browse for more charming wallpapers from Vladstudio’s website. The beauty of choosing wallpapers from this program is that you do not have to worry about the screen’s resolution  as the program itself detects the system’s resolution and downloads the best fitting wallpaper. Vladstudio allows you to set pre-defined intervals for changing random wallpapers from the ‘Options’ feature. With this feature you can also choose the option to show notification when a new wallpaper comes. After enabling this option, whenever a new wallpaper will be released by the website, a small popup window will be shown (above the system tray) with wallpaper preview, links to download and set to desktop, or view online. Another pleasing feature that it presents to you is ‘Send E-card’ that offers a wide variety of adorable animated and simple e-cards which you can send to your friends and family on different occasions.
You also have the freedom to create a folder in your desired location where you can save your favourite downloaded wallpapers for later use.

John’s Background Switcher, Wally, and Strayk are other programs that also present some wonderful wallpaper options. John’s Background Switcher lets you update background image on your computer periodically (in hours or on daily basis) and you can choose pictures from your computer or download from net. Wally is an automatic wallpaper changer which works quite similar to Vladstudio and it displays images stored on your computer plus images from Google, SmugMug, Picasa, Photobucket, and more. Strayk automatically replaces wallpaper on daily basis and you can store the images on the system for your own collection or even use them as screensavers.

Vladstudio is an easy-to-use and a delightful program with a good response time which brings life to your system’s background with unique, quirky, and lovable wallpapers.
