"Code snippets manager for developers."
Professionals, such as programmers and system administrators need to be ready for any situation and perform tasks in the least amount of time possible. To achieve this, they must save time from anywhere they can, and MemoCode will help in this situation by allowing them to store information in it, like code snippets, text or notes in general and easily retrieve them later. It even provides syntax highlight that programmers will find quite helpful.
The installation is very quick and straightforward so you won’t have any trouble completing it. At some point during the process you will see a message which informs you that if you’re upgrading from an older Memocode installation you should create a backup of the old Memocode archive (.MCD file) in order to avoid any possible issues while upgrading, even if the chance of that happening is slim. The program is 100% clean from malware and doesn’t include any additional software.
The program can run smoothly in operating systems up to Windows 7.
Below the menu bar is the toolbar, which has six buttons: Memo, Note, New, Search, Options and Help. On the left hand side of the main area of the window are your notes and on the right you can see the details about the selected items. On the main screen you can access commands by right-clicking on the items.
Clicking on the “New” button will change the screen to show the available notes and give you the option to create ones.
Memocode saves all the items you create in a file with .MCD extension. This way you can transfer it to another computer and use Memocode with the same data.
There are three categories in which you can store your items depending on their type: Code, To do and Bookmark. If you are creating a sub-category, its default type will be the same with the type of the category it is contained in.
A different window will open depending on the type of element you want to create. For Code type, the window will have a few text boxes at the top (Name, Description and Link), a code editor in the middle and a text editor at the bottom to keep your notes. There is also a drop-down box on the top right corner of the window which has several syntax highlight options. When creating a Bookmark type of element the window that opens is smaller and simpler; it has a few textboxes for entering a URL link, name, keywords and a description of the item. From the To-do window you can configure start and end dates, task status (Created, In progress, Completed Paused and Cancelled), priority of the task, alarm, add resources and keep notes in the text editor.
Memocode’s interface could use some improvement to become more modern and attractive.
Memocode is a software with unique functionality, making it difficult to find a software with similar functionality. PSPad (free), although it lacks many of Memocode’s features, is a text and code editor that can be used in a similar way.
Very good program in case you want a simple tool to keep your notes, tasks and code snippets, all accessible from just one environment. As for the price, this software is very cheap and you have a chance to show your support to the developers by purchasing it.
