Overview

USB Monitor Protocol Analyzer is a USB port sniffer, data logger, USB protocol analyzer and overall smart analysis tool when it comes to all things Universal Serial Bus (USB).

The software will review all USB traffic, capture that traffic, log it, analyze it later and let the user view that information in various ways. Packets of data can be analyzed and reported on. Modem data can be captured, broken down and viewed.

This USB monitor can check data flowing between a USB device and an application running under Windows. Port connections can be debugged and reverse-engineered with different protocols tested. Device drivers can also be developed and tested using this software.

A USB device can be tested to ensure that it is working correctly, so this software can also partly be used for USB diagnostic purposes as well. USB connections can be repeatedly tested and issues diagnosed correctly.

Installation

The software required 22.75 MB of available space to complete the setup package. The installation completed without any difficulties.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware or spyware included with the setup program.

Interface

The interface is extensive with numerous menu options and a huge double row of small toolbar buttons to contend with.

The various detected USB devices are shown in the left pane. More general information is shown in the right pane. The selected device descriptor is detailed in the bottom pane when needing more information about a particular device either in order to better identify it or to just learn more about it.

The additional dialog windows that open when choosing different actions are also detailed and comprehensive.

The interface is aimed at developers and technicians who work with USB ports and can use the tool to test, develop and improve their hardware and software.
