"Convert RSS and XML files to HTML"

Overview

Using RSS feeds is an important and really useful way of keeping in touch with your site’s visitors, that’s why you shouldn’t neglect it. With Advanced RSS publisher Professional you can create and publish RSS feeds without any problems, as well as enrich them with media files, import other RSS feeds from the web, and when you’re ready to publish them just upload them directly to your site via a shared folder or an FTP server.

Installation

To setup the program you have quite a lot of steps to follow, fortunately though for most of them it’s only a matter of clicking Next. There aren’t any difficult settings to configure throughout the procedure. The main installation process lasts less than a minute so you don’t have to worry if you’re in a hurry. The installer is clean from viruses, spyware and other types of malware as well as free of additional 3rd party software like toolbars.

The program runs smoothly under any Windows OS.

Interface

When you run RSS Publisher you will a message will pop-up and ask you to register it or continue evaluating it (you can also choose to be reminded after one day, after one week, after trial period or next time you run the program). Dismiss the message to view the main window, which is elegant and doesn’t have any resource-draining graphics. There are 7 buttons in the toolbar (New, Edit, Duplicate, Delete, Import, Upload and Exit) and on the center of the screen you can see a list with the created/imported feeds. On the left hand side is a pane (can be hidden/unhidden) with several categories that you can edit, in which you can assign each feed.

Pros

The program has a 4-step wizard for creating new RSS feeds which will be of great help to new users. In the first step you enter a title, description and link for your feed, plus you can optionally put it in one of the available categories. The second step is where you add your RSS items; for each one you can enter title, description, link, publish date, author, comments, source title, source URL, attach an image and fill in a few other values. When you have created all your items you can move to the third step, where you will be asked to choose a location to save your feed (it will be saved as an XML file), or upload it to an FTP server if you wish. You can finish creating your feed there, or you can move to the fourth step which is optional and lets you further describe it.

If following step-by-step instructions isn’t your style, there’s a button on the bottom left corner of the wizard that allows you to switch to Advanced mode and create a feed manually by filling in all the available fields in a window with 7 tabs: Feed, Items, Image, Output, Category and Advanced.

Cons

Sometimes a bug would appear which made all available buttons in a window invisible, until you hovered your mouse over them.

Alternatives

FeedForAll (paid) is a software that can create RSS feeds and podcasts, which is available for Windows and Mac too. It has slightly more features than RSS Publisher, such as WYSIWYG Editor support, automatic spellcheck, XML editor and Printer support. RSS Feed Creator (paid) is another alternative which is very similar to RSS Publisher.

Conclusion

This program right here is a powerful tool to create RSS Feeds without much trouble and publish them afterwards, giving your audience one more reason to keep visiting your site.
