Google Talk is an instant messenger facility and client from the search engine giant. It works by being able to see the people who have sent you messages and whom you have sent messages to via Gmail. Conversations can be conducted over Google Talk which are better said quickly rather than over email. PC to PC calls can be easily made using VoIP technologies and the call quality is generally good. Files can also be transferred easily between users. The interface runs within Gmail but also has a stand alone app that runs in the system tray. The tray app also serves double duty as an email checker which pops up a message when a new email has arrived and changed its icon as well.
