Random Word Generator 33.0
Review & Alternatives
"Generates lists of randomly constructed words"
Random Word Generator is a program that creates new words which, if given a meaning, can be actually used like normal words. This may sound a bit funny, but its uses vary from simple entertainment to cryptographic operations. Its engine makes use of a dictionary consisting of over 300,000 English words and with particular built-in rules, it generates random words for you. Those rules can be adjusted, allowing you to have control over the generated words.
It’s a piece of cake to install the software. It requires no particular technical knowledge and it’s just like any other normal program’s installation. Simply follow a few steps, select installation directory and in under a few seconds the whole process will be complete and you will be ready to use the program.
The software is clean from malicious items such as Trojans, Adware and other types of malware, and it’s also free of additional advertised software.
Supported operating systems are Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, 7, 8 and 2012.
Random Word Generator’s standard interface has the menu bar with 8 items (File, Options, Edit, Generate, Tools, Interface, Window and Help), the toolbar with 8 buttons (New Project, Open Project, Save Project, Generate Words, Generate to File, Generate Combinations, Generate Real Words and Word Builder) and below them are 5 tabs that change the rest of the window’s contents: Components, Format, Options, Restrictions and Extrapolate. However the interface is highly customizable so you can modify it to your liking.
The main function of the program is to create random words, but that’s just the result. To get to that point you can adjust a lot of factors; for example, you can ignore certain letters, certain combinations of letters or even real words, define the word’s minimum and maximum length and also exclude words with profanity.
When you have created your rules, you can:
1) Generate random words that don’t exist
2) Generate random combinations of input letters
3) Generate a list of already existing words
Then you can take the list with your results and save it to a Project file.
In addition, you can even extrapolate random words, meaning that when you can type an existing word and RWG will create random variations of it. That’s a quite useful feature.
Of course you can also find anagrams of a given set of letters. Adding a prefix or suffix to your rules is applicable too.
There are no cons in this program, other than the fact that the average user should spend some time first in order to get familiar with it. Fortunately though the included documentation covers all topics and methods of usage.
Although there are some tools for creating random words (e.g. http://www.textfixer.com/tools/random-words.php), but they’re all simple and none of them have the extraordinary features of Random Word Generator (like ignoring certain letters/words and extrapolating).
Random Word Generator is a truly unique program with a variety of features that give users the power to create random, special words that have nothing to envy existing words. You should try it out, even just for fun.
