Quick Review

"MO Anti-pounding for Drupal 6.x"

MO Anti-pounding is a software package to run on Drupal and PHP which can help to reduce the instance of a server being hit with too many unwanted visits over a short period of time. Internet spiders used by search engines can inadvertently re-crawl a web site too often and cause a problem for the server to continue to deliver web pages to human site visitors. The software is able to detect which users are human and which are not and block automated spiders from access. A white-list and black-list is used to flag acceptable sources of traffic and those that are known to not be acceptable. A message can be displayed to site visitors who are blocked. Set the number of acceptable hits. The settings.php file must be edited to call to the MO Anti-pounding bootstrap script file.

MO Anti-pounding Key Features:

  • Drupal script to prevent automated search spiders from crippling a web site by accessing it too many times over a short period of time
  • White-list and black-list can be configured to mark approved and non-approved visitors
  • Displays message to visitors who get blocked
  • Adjustment to settings.php file is required for the script to function

MO Anti-pounding is a software package which works on Drupal and PHP to let site managers better handle over-access by search bots and crawlers.

Requirements: Drupal 6.x and PHP 5.x. CRON for automation is useful as well.

Requirements: A system with Drupal 6.x and PHP 5.x CRON is strongly suggested
