"A customizable calendar."
The Rainlendar Lite utility is an independent calendar application that works well on all operating systems. What is great about it is that its format permits the user to create events and schedule tasks that he can later transfer between other calendar applications he might be using, regardless of whether it is an online calendar, such as Google Calendar, or an offline calendar, like Outlook appointments, for instance.
This software is easy to use and has a lot of options so you can customize it the way you want. In addition, since it only has 6MB, you can be sure that it will not occupy a lot of space on your hard disk. Because it is Unicode, you can set the language you prefer on it. Due to the wide variety of customizations that you have access to, you can easily spot the future events you scheduled, even though they appear in a separate list.
In order to install the Rainlendar Lite on any type of operating system, first you must make sure that your machine meets the minimum requirements. More exactly, the processor should be 500MHz or higher, you must have a minimum of 512MB of RAM and 15MB on your hard drive available, so as to allow enough space for the temporary files.
The installation process is very easy on all platforms. If you have a Windows operating system, then all you need to do is to double click the executable file and follow the setup instructions. Installing it on a Mac is just as easy, as double clicking on the .dmg file will allow you to copy the to the folder designated for the application. In case you have Ubuntu or Linux, then you need to download the proper version of Rainlendar Lite and then extract the files wherever you please.
Rainlendar Lite is easy to read and, since it has so many customization options, you can make it blend perfectly with your desktop. After you open the application, you will notice two bars marked as ‘event’ and ‘to do’ in the middle of your desktop, as well as a small calendar in the icon tray. If you are unhappy with the transparent default skin, then all you need to do is right click on the icon tray and browse the options menu to choose a more visible skin.
In order to set a new task or to mark an upcoming event you do not want to forget about, you need to repeat the aforementioned procedure, the only difference being that you need to select the new event or task menus. Introducing a new event or task into the Rainlendar Lite application can be as detailed as you wish, since you can add short descriptions, location, URL, set the priority, enter the task or event into a certain category, and many other options.
By having this discreet and originally designed application on your computer, you can be sure that you will never forget any event or task that you have scheduled in the near or distant future. Rainlendar Lite provides an easy way to synchronize events between your work and home calendar, so you will never overlap any important event ever again. In addition, it is quite a small application that does not take much space from your hard disk and it will not ruin the aspect of your desktop background.
Even though it is a fun calendar application to have on the computer, it seems that downloading or importing new skins for the Rainlendar Lite is not as straightforward as customers would expect.
An alternative to Rainlendar Lite is the Lightning 0.8 application. Lightning is mainly designed for Thunderbird so the issue is that it might slows down your computer.
Overall, it seems like a discreet application that does not put much pressure on the components of the computer. If you have trouble with remembering dates or promises that you made to people you care about, then Rainlendar Lite is exactly what you need.
