"an interactive process viewer for Linux."

If you’re running Linux and you’d like to monitor in real time the processes running, you could use Htop. Its main purpose is to dethrone the Unix command top.

Here’s why you should make the switch to Htop:

  • Monitor all the processes running, ordered by default by the CPU usage; the list is refreshed frequently
  • The main difference between Htop and Top is the latter only shows the most CPU intensive programs while the former displays the applications running now
  • To distinguish the processes better, the app uses different colors
  • You can see all details related to a process like CPU and RAM resources consumed, how long has it been running, the process ID, the user who initiated the command, priority, etc
  • You can sort the processes, invert the list, send kill commands to the processes you want to forcefully close
  • Use the cursor to navigate the list

Download Htop if you need an interactive process monitor for Linux.
