"Cryper encrypts files and directories."
Cryper is a file encryption software package which is both open-source and free. Cryper is a universal tool that can encrypt files for whatever purpose. A file can be encrypted inside the software and then placed in the Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive cloud. When performed in this manner it is possible to not rely on the encryption that cloud provides use and instead encrypt in your own way first using Cryper. The benefits to this approach is that the U.S. government can obtain a court order to get the cloud provider to decrypt your files (that they encrypted) in order that the files can be read. However, if you have used another encryption package before uploading the files to the cloud, this provides a second layer of protection. Files can also be transferred to a USB stick more securely as well.
Cryper Key Features:
- Encrypt files so they cannot be read by other people
- Safer to encrypt and then add to cloud accounts
- Safer to place files on a USB flash drive
- 14 day trial
