"Convert TIFF, JPEG, RAW, PNG, GIF in batch."
Some software (image editors, for example) cannot handle all image formats properly, forcing you to convert your files into another file format. To do this you need a software like Total Image Converter; this handy tool can convert images between several formats like JPEG, GIF, BMP and others, and with it you can also make changes to the images prior to the actual conversion process.
Installing the program is no big deal. The setup procedure consists of only a few steps and the main installation process finishes quite quickly. The only settings you’ll have to make during the installation is pick a language for the installation wizard and define installation directory.
The setup package doesn’t include any malicious software (viruses, spyware, etc.) and no additional 3rd-party software.
Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 (32/64-bit).
Before viewing the main window for the first time you are asked to select the program’s language. After doing so the program will open and you can start working with it.
The toolbar at the top has several image formats as buttons that change the output file format. Next to the toolbar is the filter textbox that you can use to exclude certain file types from showing on the file explorer area. That area takes up most space in the window and consists of the tree overview pane and the selected folder’s contents list. On the right side of the window is an image preview screen with some technical details below.
The program can convert images into a wide variety of formats: BMP, JPG, JPEG, ICO, PNG, GIF, PCX, TGA PXM, RAW, PS, TIFF, PDF, as well as AVS, Kodak Cineon, GraphvIz DOT, MTV Raytracer, Apple PICT, HP PCL Printer, Irix RGB (SGI) and many others.
The built-in file explorer is very convenient for browsing your computer’s folders and finding the images you wish to convert.
Total Image Converter is not only capable of converting videos, but it can also rotate, resize and crop images. In addition, with the program you can add frames or place watermark on an image.
You can make the program to automatically open Microsoft Outlook and send the converted images by email to the recipient you define.
Batch image conversion is supported too.
You can add particular folders into Favorites so that you don’t have to browse for them every time but access them quickly with the click of a button instead.
No bugs, but the interface could become simpler and more modern (without having all supported output formats in the toolbar).
Image Tuner (free), XnConvert (free), FastStone Photo Resizer (paid), and Converseen (free) are all image conversion tools similar to Total Image Converter. Out of those, Converseen is quite interesting but FastStone Photo Resizer is a popular choice too. An online alternative is Download3k's own file converter.
If you’re looking for a software to convert your images into various formats plus perform basic editing on them (cropping, resizing, etc.) and you’re not really interested in the GUI, then Total Image Converter is what you need. It can serve its purpose well and won’t let you down, especially when it comes to functionality.
