All needed to achieve that is install USB over IP Connector on the computer with physically connected USB device (server machine) and on the computer where you will use that device (client machine). USB over IP Connector will take care of the rest. No need to obtain additional hardware at all! BTW you can choose whether Mac, Linux or Windows machine will be a client or a server. Not only thisUSB over IP Connector program allows accessing remote USB devices, but it can be also used in servers and workstations virtualization. I.e. it will give you the possibility to access and use USB devices connected to local machine in a virtual session.
Thanks to USB over IP Connector you can work with USB devices on operating systems of such virtual machines as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX, Citrix XenDesktop, Windows Virtual PC, etc. USB over IP Connector allows integrating its useful functionality into your own software (OEM licensing).
