Overview

AirMyPC is a piece of software to mirror or screen cast your Windows desktop and sound output over to an Apple TV system. AirMyPC can wirelessly broadcast the desktop in the same way that an Apple iPad or iPhone can send their own wireless broadcast to an Apple TV device. It is not necessary to own an Apple mobile device in order to wirelessly broadcast content through to an Apple TV device which will be a big relief to owners of the Apple TV system who prefer the Windows platform rather than Mac OS X or iOS platforms for their computing needs.

Get rid of all the wires around the house that can trip people up potentially causing injury and needing to be covered up. Go completely wireless for your entertainment needs. Avoid needing to transfer media files stored on a Windows PC to an iOS device just to stream them over to an Apple TV system using AirPlay. AirMyPC can perform the streaming in a compatible manner for the user directly within the Windows OS. Share family snaps, movie clips and entire digital TV series from the Windows storage over to Apple TV.

Installation

The AirMyPC installation proceeds without incident. Once installed, a light-orange AirMyPC system tray icon is added with an informational balloon that pops up immediately. It reads: “Click AirMyPC icon to choose your Apple TV and Mirroring options or to open AirMyPC Settings Screen.”

Right-click on the AirMyPC system tray icon and it will begin to search for Apple TV devices.

The software requires Windows XP, Vista, 8, 8 or 8.1 to run. An Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3 system is also required with the latest iOS operating system installed. The Apple TV system cannot have been “jail-broken”. The Web camera option is only available with Windows 7 or later versions.

Interface

The AirMyPC has a simple interface with four section links shown for Settings, Purchase, Support, and Enter Registration Key.

Via the system tray there will also be extra options relating to connecting to the correct Apple TV device. The screen can be mirrored, the audio can be mirrored, both the screen and audio can be mirrored, or the mirroring can be turned off even when still wirelessly connected to the Apple TV system.
