openSUSE is a Linux-based OS from Novell. The openSUSE project benefits from a worldwide network of programmers, testers, usability experts, artists and developers who work collectively to create the best operating system they can. Of course, openSUSE is only one of many possible Linux distros that can be tried out. It's quite popular in its own right though because it tends to be quite user-friendly for newbies to get to grips with. It has a long rich history, so it is bug tested and tend to run reliably. OpenSUSE doesn't require a powerful PC to install to, which is one of the true benefits of this distro. The software is completely open-source and so it free to use.
