"Alex's V Project adds effects to webcam video"
Everyone loves those funny video chats with friends on Skype (and on other similar services), and with Alex’s V Project, those sessions are going to become even better. This software will give you the power to manipulate the video that is being broadcasted from your webcam and let you do all sorts of stuff, such as display videos, add visual effects, add text, rotate the video screen and perform many other actions.
Installation consists of only a few steps that require no configurations at all. When the installation process is complete, you will be prompted to choose whether you want to install the required drivers for the program to work (you must install them if it’s your first time installing the program).
No viruses or other types of malware are included in the setup package.
Supported operating systems are Windows Vista, 7 and 8 (sorry, XP users).
The program’s interface is warm and user-friendly. At the top you can see a bar with the following 3 main items: Sources, Effects and Settings. Selecting one of them reveals more options from that group. On the middle left part of the window is the output screen, which displays your webcam with all the changes you’ve made through the program. Next to the preview screen you can see a list with all available sources, effects and settings, whilst in the box located at the bottom you can see which sources/effects you’ve activated.
The language, color and opacity of the window can be changed by clicking on the icon located at the top left corner and selecting the respective options.
There are 4 different sources you can use as video sources; your webcam, a video file, a picture and your desktop. If you want to use multiple video sources at once, you can do so since the program lets you add up to 16 video sources at a time. As for the effects, there are countless of them: face effects, objects, distortions and filters; plus you can add text too. The background color can be changed, and you can also take a screenshot or start recording your changed webcam. The rotation of the screen can adjusted, and so can its brightness, contrast, sharpness and colors (this can be done from the settings menu).
The information bar at the bottom displays the number of video streams live, the size of the full video, the number video sources and effects used and the number of installed drivers.
Very small memory consumption.
The number of effects is limited, and currently there’s no way to import your own effects or get more from the web.
A nice and well-known alternative is WebcamMax (paid), which includes tons of effects for your webcam and can simulate a fake webcam broadcasting videos or images, like Alex’s V Project. Other software for your webcam are Yawcam (free), CamTwist (free) and YouCam (paid).
There’s no denying that a clown nose always makes things funnier, so add it to the program’s list of active effects and start your next video chat.
