"Opera: The fastest web browser"
Opera web browser for Mac is based on Chromium from Google, though Opera is totally independent of the search engine provider. Much of the basic functionality under the hood is similar including how each open tab requires a new memory process on most operating systems. This adds to stability, but increases memory requirements compared to other browsers like Safari. What you get for that though is the most comprehensive support for the HTML5 standard which helps to display web content as the designers' intended it. It's also about the fastest web browser to load and access web pages. What Opera lacks is the kind of base of users which would help encourage third-party developers to create new extensions for it. There are very few of the standard extensions available that you would find with other web browsers, so you'll have to locate alternatives and it can be slim pickings at times.
