"The award-winning Sticky Password manager"

Overview

Sticky Password is a small and handy password manager that you can use anytime, anywhere. It can generate strong password, encrypt them and store them securely. Then the passwords can be carried around in a USB flash disk, so that you always have them with you. Apart from a password manager it is also used as a form filling software that can save you time from filling in online forms.

Installation

When running the installer you will be asked if you want to the program to send anonymous usage information to its developers in order to improve it. The information sent includes how often you use the program, which features you use most, what kind of errors you get etc. It does not send any sensitive information like the passwords you store in it. You can opt-out by unchecking the corresponding box. Afterwards you are asked if you want to make a Standard or Custom installation. There really aren’t many settings to configure if you pick Custom, so unless you want to change installation path or don’t want shortcuts then you can just make a Standard installation.

Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista and 7. A version for iPhone is available as well.

Interface

Friendly interface, with the features organized in categories. Before you actually open the program though, you are asked to enter the master password (or create one if you are using it for the first time). Then you will see the main window with a pane on the left, which has 6 categories: Quick Access, Web Accounts, App Accounts, Bookmarks, Identities and Secure Memos. Each one will change the main area with the appropriate features. On top is a search box which can help you search for stored passwords.

Pros

Whenever you visit a website that you have stored a password for, Sticky Password will recognize it and log you in automatically. This combined with its capability to store personal information can help you save time from filling in password boxes and online forms. It integrates well with most browsers and applications therefore there is a slim chance it will let you down.

Password generator is one great feature that will create strong passwords for you. There is also an indicator that tells you how secure your password is. Then they are encrypted using advanced, military-grade encryption algorithms.

Sticky Password makes sure that keyloggers with have nothing to record, since it automates the process of form filling. A virtual keyboard feature is available too, so that you can type passwords and information in the program without hitting any keys actually.

Cons

There aren’t any default settings or templates for popular websites and applications. All the settings have to be done manually.

Alternatives

LastPass is one well known and reliable password manager that can work on various platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry. It has many features that Sticky Password has (e.g. password generator and virtual keyboard) but it only works with browsers and not applications. KeePass is an open-source program which will store all your passwords, but it doesn’t provide automatic form filling.

Conclusion

If you are in doubt about the safety of your information and data, and the overall security of your computer, Sticky Password is the first step to take in order to make your computer more secure. You will be able to browse websites and input passwords or other information without worrying about them reaching anyone else’s hands. Considering that it comes with a 30 days trial, there isn’t really any reason to hesitate giving it a try.
