"Clean Your Tracks & Protect Your Privacy!"
Privacy Eraser Free is a privacy and security application that can wipe out any internet browsing history from a computer system.
Internet browsers like Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, Chrome and Firefox all keep an incredible amount of data about the user's browsing habits. These are stored in form history data, saved passwords, address bar entries, typed URLs, search history, auto-complete form data, cookies, browser cache, and more. Elsewhere, Windows maintains search histories, recent documents list, temporary files, clipboard, DNS cache, error reporting, log files and much more. This is all left behind on a PC when it is turned off and theoretically could be accessed by another user later.
Privacy Eraser Free has been designed to be able to wipe all the above data from the record. Windows data files like temporary files can also be removed. The package can also access over 250 applications via a plug-in system. Application data files, caches and other unnecessary files can also be removed to extract out other user actions and data that has been collected by these applications.
The software can work on many file systems including NTFS, exFAT, FAT16 and FAT 32 partitions and physical drives.
Windows data, browsing data and file data is overwritten in such a manner that it cannot be recovered later by data recovery software ensuring that once the internet, program and system activity has been wiped, it stays that way.
The installation proceeds normally. The software offers to add several context menu item hooks that will make it easier to wipe data before it is deleted from a system. These can be useful. A user guide is also offered.
No additional software was added.
Privacy Eraser Free requires Windows 8/8.x, 7, Vista, XP, 2012, or 2008 (32 or 64-bit)
The interface is similar looking to system utilities. It has a curved menu system down the left side with different options presented. Depending on which one is selected, the main area will change to reflect options and cleaning actions being run.
The options in the main area animate while inactive and light up when hovered over which make it easier for people with sight limitations.
