"Update the Java JRE and remove old versions."

Overview

Java software and its runtime portion JRE (Java Runtime Environment) to be precise, allow applets (or in layman language “applications”) written in Java Programming language to run inside various browsers. You need to have Java JRE installed on your system as these applets allow the access of most of the websites and applications out there that also work on Java. JavaRa is a simple utility that lets you install, update and remove the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) with just a single click. It checks existing version of JRE on a system and replaces it with latest JRE version, if required. JRE Removal tool is a very valuable feature that effectively deletes files, directories, and registry keys associated with JRE.

Installation

The software does not require installation, you simply need to keep the JavaRa  .exe file in the desired location of your system. On executing the “JavaRa.exe” file, the software will be launched and you can start using it. It is supported by following Operating systems: Windows 98/ Me/ NT/ 2000/ XP/ 2003/ Vista/ 7.

Interface

The small main window of JavaRa has a very simple interface with four main sections: Update Java Runtime, Remove Java runtime, Update JavaRa Definitions, and Additional Tasks. The functions offered by each section are self-explanatory of their purpose, so people with or without a strong technical experience can use it with great ease.  Settings option at the bottom of window shows options to check updates automatically, preserve window height/width, and select the Program's language.

Pros

  • It checks the current JRE version on your system and if that version is outdated, it will download and install the latest version of Java to your system
  • Update JavaRa definitions feature helps to find and remove every last trace of Java existing on your system, which in turn helps in enhancing the system’s security and in increasing the hard disk space
  • You can choose different methods for upgrading Java on your system such as by using Jucheck.exe tool, Performing online check or by downloading and installing the latest version
  • Remove Java Runtime is another valuable feature that is capable of deleting all files, directories and registry entries related with Java, making the system ready for another installation
  • Additional tasks feature has multiple functions including removing useless and outdated JRE files that consume space on your system unnecessarily, removing startup entry that might slow down your system, removing outdated JRE Firefox Extensions, and cleaning up JRE Temp files
  • Settings can be done for performing automatic check of updates and localization of the JavaRa window is also available in multiple languages

Cons

The easy-to-use software did what it was told to do without any issues, so no cons.

Alternatives

Glary Utilities, SlimCleaner, GeekUninstaller, and Revo Uninstaller are some substitutes for JavaRa. However, these softwares are not particularly meant for Java but they are effective system cleaners and uninstallers. Glary Utilities and SlimCleaner are more of system cleaners that clean, optimize, repair, and update systems to boost its performance, whereas Revo Uninstaller and GeekUninstaller are uninstallers that trace and uninstall all kinds of stubborn programs or traces of leftover registries in the system. In case, you are only concerned about the maintenance of Java on your system then JavaRa is the best option.

Conclusion

JavaRa runs on very low computer resources, is user-friendly, effective in its functions and is one of the best ways to maintain Java environment on your system, so we strongly advise to use this software.
