Quick Review

"Dump EDID information into the console window"

DumpEDID is a compact console application designed specifically for Windows operating systems. Its primary function is to extract and analyze the EDID (Extended display identification data) records from your computer, providing you with valuable information about your monitor. This data includes details such as the monitor's manufacturing week and year, the manufacturer's name, the model name, and the supported display modes.

To utilize DumpEDID, you need to execute it within a console (Command-Prompt) window, as is the case with any console application. In order to view the output, you have the option to dump it into a file. For instance, you can run the command "DumpEDID.exe > c:\temp\edid.txt" to save the extracted EDID records to a text file located at "c:\temp\edid.txt".

Furthermore, if you have administrator rights on a remote computer, you can retrieve the EDID records of that particular machine by specifying it as a parameter when running the DumpEDID executable. For example, using the command "DumpEDID.exe \remote01" will enable you to acquire the EDID data from the computer named "remote01".

For enhanced convenience, DumpEDID offers a feature to obtain only the active monitors. By adding the "-a" flag to the command-line, you can restrict the extraction process to the currently active monitors. This can be accomplished either on your local machine or on a remote computer. For instance, using the commands "DumpEDID.exe -a" or "DumpEDID.exe -a \remote01" will retrieve the EDID records exclusively from the active monitors.

As for system requirements, DumpEDID is compatible with a wide range of Windows versions, including Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7, and 8. However, it does not support Windows 98 or ME.
