This time, we chose to try out the Intellexer Categorizer, and obviously this piece of software requires prior knowledge of what a categorizer can do for your business. Categorizer is a convenient solution for companies with large amounts of documentation that creates a mess. Categorizer is a semantic solution designed to help management categorize the company’s documentation.
This professional software sorts documents. Intellexer Categorizer is a desktop solution designed to assist managers in sorting out and compartmentalizing documents on their hard drive. At the beginning, a user needs to specify titles of categories and set their models to be used as samples when Categorizer will look for the similar documents. This is a commercial software with 15 days trial period. We strongly recommend users take advantage of the trial version to see whether this application is the right solution for their documentation organizing needs.
Intellexer Categorizer implements semantic analysis instead of a single word analysis of the contents of your documents when categorizing them. This provides greater categorization quality and accuracy. Categorizer is capable of resolving the information overload problem for middle-sized companies. Companies that need business information management, patent analysis, evaluation of business competitors, gathering intelligence and many other projects may require this sort of powerful categorization for further analysis.
Installation requirements are OS Windows 2000/XP/2003, Server Internet Explorer 5. 5 or later, CPU Pentium III 800 MHz or better, RAM 512 MB (minimum), HDD at least 160 MB free disk space. The trial version offers 15 days of fully featured product. There is no bundled software or adware in the installation pack. Intellexer Categorizer works with the following file formats: TXT, HTML, DOC, PPT, RTF, CHM, PDF, DOCX, MHT.
GUI is rather simplistic and transparent due to focus on the specific business niche of customers. Wizard guides user through simple steps of adding model documents and adding categories. There is no option to add sub-categories, though.
The possibility to create catalogue trees. Categorizer compares all documents on your hard drive to the relevant category. When you change etalon document, the meaning is automatically updated in the catalogue structure. The possibility to move or copy files to the created structure of folders.
Intellexer Categorizer uses semantic analysis, which enhances the accuracy of the comparison. It provides full automation of categorization tasks for large amounts of documentation. There are 7 categories with etalon documents.
It is possible to use common documents for training purposes. Intuitive, simplistic GUI. Saves time for further search. The possibility to create up to 30 categories for one project.
Some PDF issues are known. User needs to download a third-party library, PDF IFilter v6.0, to work with PDF files.
Documents are categorized correctly if they are in ISO-8859-1 (Latin 1) and UTF-8 encoding.
All Correspondence and Documents Manager and MSD Documents may be viable alternatives.
