Overview

ACDSee Photo Editor is a professional photo editor from a development team who have produced a good range of products so far.

There are a number of packs which provide tools for the photographer to improve their shots. Colors can be fine-tuned to improve color balance, exposure, etc. Low-light conditions that have caused poor exposure can be fixed or significantly improved by adding more light to certain areas of a photograph. There are also some artistic touches that can be added to images through the user of filters.

The Lighting and Contrast Enhancement feature that is included with several ACDSee products is present here also. Sliders can be used to make careful adjustments to different types of light levels.

The effects that are possible will be familiar to anyone who uses photo apps to apply different filters to images. So users of Instagram or other image apps will find these controls easy to learn how to use.

The latest RAW image standards are also supported here, so photographers who like to use the RAW format for their photos can do so.

Installation

The software required 125.7 MB of available space to complete the setup package. The installation completed without any difficulties.

There was no adware, toolbars, malware or spyware included with the setup program.

ACDSee Photo Editor requires Windows XP, Vista, or 7.

Interface

The interface is pretty busy with a menu system and several levels of toolbars that begin at the menu level and continue down beyond that. Different parts of the toolbar have section headings to make it clearer what part of the toolbar to head to in order to find different functions.

The image preview window is huge in this application. Below it is a panel to add photos to be worked on. Different actions can easily be selected and there are batch process options too. To the right of the image viewer are the various toolbars to move through to access different functions.

Anyone who has used Photoshop or other professional image editing software will be quite familiar with this type of layout.
