"nfo++ is a lightweight .nfo viewer and editor"
nfo++ by Induks is a small and lightweight .nfo editor and viewer, which can handle .txt, .diz, other text files on top of it.
The installation is simple and straightforward, without additional third party tools bundled with it. It can basically run on any edition of Windows from XP to Windows 10, 32-bit or 64-bit.
.nfo files usually accompany multimedia files, like movies and containing relevant information about them such as: title, director, genre, language, studio, rating, year, duration, storyline. Other times .nfo files are used are within software installations, where they contain release notes from the author.
With nfo++ you can both open and edit .nfo, .txt, .diz, and other text files. When creating a file, you can save it as .nfo or .txt.
When creating an .nfo file, an interesting feature of the program is its ability to insert movie information (title, director, genre, language, studio, rating, year, duration, storyline) from IMDB into the .nfo file you're creating. This feature is located under the "Insert" menu and can also gather info from a DVD loaded in the PC.
Another good feature is drawing ASCII art from an image, feature also located under "Insert" in the menu. With this you have the option to browse for an image (the usual image extensions are supported) and convert it into ASCII art. You can select resolution, ranging from low to normal to high, and check the rendering mode, slow or fast. The resulting ASCII art will be inserted into the .nfo file.
The "Edit" menu contains options usually found in text editors, such as: Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Find, Replace, Go to, Select All, and Time and Date, all of them accompanied by common keyboard shortcuts as well.
To sum things up, nfo++ is a handy .nfo and text editor/viewer, with an easy-to-use interface, the ability to insert text templates, create ASCII art from images, and query IMDB for relevant movie info.
