"Comprehensive data recovery software"
Overview
R-Studio Data Recovery Software is a data recovery package that can help to get back files and other data that was previously thought lost. The package can work with FAT, NTFS, exFAT, HFS, HFS+, Ext and UFS hard drive formats whch means that Windows, Mac and Linux drives can be handled within the application. 64-bit Windows is supported for faster multi-threaded management.
RAID6 disk arrays and also reverse RAID arrays get full support here; this is useful for companies that like to use two drives to use a second as a mirror of the data stored on the first one for backup and data redundancy.
File recovery can be performed at any time and recovered files can be saved to local drives, network drives or even over the internet to a remote site.
Installation
The install process begins with some initial setup and approvals. The screen that follows is a strong warning (in red lettering) to avoid installing the software to the same disk. An Options button is there to receive more detailed information about the issue before proceeding.
At least 113.4 MB of available space is needed to install the software. A default install folder is displayed and the user has the choice to change this to a more suitable location for them. A Start menu shortcut is then proposed, and then the true installation can be completed. Once the installation is complete, the software offers to launch so the user can get started recovering files.
Once the application is started, the name, company and registration key is requested. For people wanting to evaluate the software, there is a demo button to click to start a trial.
No toolbars or malicious software was installed with the package. Nothing that needed to be opted out of.
Interface
The R-Studio Data Recovery Software is well laid out with menus and some nice toolbar icons near the top of the window.
The disk device view is shown on the immediate left with all the drives found shown there. This includes the columns labeled device / disk with each partition shown below the physical drive information, Label, FS, Start and Size.
Any drive or partition selected will have its properties displayed in the right side pane. At the bottom is a log of what actions have been taken and the area at the footer of the window is used as a status bar.
