"Copy your files extremely fast and simple"
ExtremeCopy Pro is an easy to use application which is designed to copy files between directories significantly faster than Explorer’s normal copy function. During copy tasks that take a long time to finish you can pause them any time you want and resume them later. If an error occurs while transferring files, it will be recorded in a log afterwards along with any other file that failed to be copied and the process will continue normally.
There are 2 installation packages available, one for 32 and 64-bit systems respectively. Download the right one for you and run the installer, which will guide you through a few series of steps to setup the program before you use it. At some point you will be asked if you want to make a Complete or Custom installation, however there is no difference between them because in Custom mode there is nothing to configure apart from the installation directory. The installation procedure will start right after that step.
Supported operating systems are Windows XP, 2003, Vista and Windows 7.
It has a simple interface, with just two boxes available to choose the source and destination file/folder, but it can be expanded with several options by clicking the “More” button located at the bottom left corner. The options that will appear let you configure how the program acts on certain cases, like when errors occur or when a file on the copy list has the same filename with a file on the destination folder. You can also choose from there if you want to verify copy data or run a command after the task finishes.
Copy speed is increased compared to regular copying. Especially when copying big files, the operation can finish relatively fast.
In addition, you can choose what the program does if it stumbles upon a copy error. It can ignore it, retry to copy the file (you can maximum error retries before an alternative action is performed), cancel the process or bring up the available actions for you to choose every time an error appears.
If a file with the same filename already exists in the destination directory, you have plenty of ways to let the program handle the situation as well. You can set it to ask you at that time what you want to do, rename all files with the same filename, replace them, skip them or perform an action depending on the source files’ properties (size and date).
ExtremeCopy Pro is quite configurable too. There are many settings that you can fiddle with, such as changing Explorer’s default copier to this program, writing a log file, setting the copy data buffer size or even adjusting the program’s startup position.
There are many grammar and syntax mistakes, both within the program interface and the author's website. It’s quite repelling.
Copywhiz (paid), TeraCopy (Free and Pro editions available) and KillCopy (free) are three very reliable programs that you can use to copy files. Comparing all 4 products we came to the conclusion that KillCopy is the fastest and most stable program, and is superior to the rest because of its rich feature list. TeraCopy is the simplest one, whilst Copywhiz and ExtremeCopy Pro are equally fast and have a decent amount of features.
It’s not a half-bad program to replace Explorer’s copy feature. It is faster and has many features that you can use to customize it in order to make copy tasks easier and smooth.
