"PC transfer software"
With the Windows 10 free upgrade, it is really convenient for users that they have the option to keep their personal files and folders after upgrading. But this feature is not always available when you’re installing a new OS, which means that you’ll either have to accept the fact that your personal files and programs will not be available afterwards, or use professional software that will help you transfer them into the new OS- such as EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional 8.0. This program gives you the ability to transfer personal files and applications between Windows operating systems when upgrading your computer, easily and without problems.
The installation procedure is only a few steps long, and doesn’t have advanced settings in any of them. In one of the steps however you’ll have to select whether you want to join in the Customer Experience Improvement Program, which would allow the program to send anonymous usage details to the developers regarding the program’s usage. Opt-out if you don’t wish to participate in this program, and then let the main installation process take place.
The software doesn’t include any kind of malware (e.g. viruses, Trojans, etc.) and is free of additional 3rd-party advertised programs as well.
Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 (32 and 64-bit).
EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional has a very user-friendly and organized interface. Once you open the application, you will be asked whether you want to transfer data between two PCs connected on the same LAN, or prepare an image file that will include all data that you want to keep after upgrading to a different Windows OS.
This is basically the first step of the whole procedure, and the interface of the program is the same in all steps. You just select one of the given options in each step, make the appropriate settings (if any) and then let the program take care of the rest, automatically.
The basic functionality of EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional is to backup and restore your personal files and installed programs when installing a new Windows OS. Of course, the main advantage here is that apart from backing up personal files (which sometimes can be done manually too) it can also backup installed programs, which is a really difficult task considering compatibility issues between different operating systems.
There are two ways you can transfer applications and files with this program. You can either connect two PCs on the same LAN and perform the process directly, or you can create an image file containing the data you want to transfer and use it afterwards.
The application fully supports Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 (32 and 64-bit). Additionally, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 are supported too. Note that you cannot transfer data and applications from a newer OS to an older OS (for example, from Windows 7 to Windows XP).
In the step where you’re asked to select which applications you want to keep, a list of all installed programs will be displayed along with a Compatibility status (Yes, No, Likely and Existing) that describes the compatibility of each program with the new OS.
The program works fine and has no bugs.
Other alternatives with similar functionality are Windows Easy Transfer (free), CloneApp (free), Zinstall XP7 (paid), PCmover (paid) and IObit PCtransfer (free). The best out of these are PCmover and Zinstall XP7.
EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional is a tool that can be used by professionals and amateurs alike without any kind of issues due to its user-friendly interface and advanced functionality that makes OS migration an extremely easy and quick task.
