"Very small server-side log analysis program."
Active LogView is a log analysis application for webmasters who wish to keep track of their traffic and other statistics with their web sites. This software will install on a windows PC running a web server.
The statistics are generated automatically for the webmaster who doesn't want to have to bother too much with the details. The stats can be viewed by accessing: www.your-website.com/cgi-bin/logview.com from anywhere on the internet to view the traffic statistics. No previous knowledge of the CGI-BIN is required in order to install and make use of this software which will be a relief for some people.
The software will produce a very readable list of traffic information. This includes total requests made, the number of unique visits (i.e. not double-counting the same person visiting twice), and an advanced referrer list of where visitors originated (i.e. what web site they were looking at before they arrived on their current web site). Traffic can be viewed by the hour, week, month or year to get a good overview of what is happening with a given website.
The installation involves downloading the software, unzipping it, and then installing it. Once the program is installed, it will be able to review the raw traffic logs from a web server in order to turn those into a more presentable format. There is a ReadMe file but other than that information is sparse.
The online interface is a readable list of traffic information based on the raw logs.
Analysis is run directly from the logs rather than generating a new database which makes the software more efficient. Reporting analysis is managed in real-time.
The traffic reports can display content for daily, week, monthly or yearly. The display can also be adjusted to change the background color, foreground color, title of the page, and other useful modifications to personalize the experience.
