"Improve and edit your photos easily."
Overview
AVS Photo Editor is a photo editor that allows the user to load in a number of photos which display at the bottom in a scrollable display and to edit each photo one by one.
There are numerous toolboxes that let the user make changes to the pictures. Effects can be added to blur or de-blur the image. Red-eye effect from flash photography can be successfully removed. Filters like sepia and black and white adjustments can be made to a photo or series of photos.
Color problems such as poor outdoor or indoor lighting at the time that the photograph was taken can be accounted for with adjustments to balance, contrast, brightness and saturation.
If an image has been scanned in and has some image artifacts then these can be rectified by using one of several tools to tackle this issue and bring the image back to a good condition again.
Installation
The installation completed without any issues.
There was no adware, spyware, malware or other unnecessary addition to the setup package.
AVS Photo Editor requires Windows 8.1, 8, 7, XP, 2003, or Vista. There is no Mac or Linux version.
Interface
The interface is a dark one which can be a bit intimidating at first because it is filled with photo editing options.
At the top is a simple menu with File, Edit, View and About options.
Below this are thick navigation tabs for Browse, Edit and Print which entirely change what is shown in the left sidebar.
The left-hand sidebar includes separate panes with different features. For instance, with the Edit tab selected, the user will see a series of minimized toolboxes which when selected will open up that toolbox fully. There is a navigator, histogram, presets, white balance, tone corrections, brightness and contrast, color balance, detail, smart corrections, vignettes and watermarks toolboxes available.
The image is shown in the large image preview window on the right side. Other images are shown in a picture catalog at the bottom of the display.
