"Virtual audio rack software"
V-Raxtor is a software package that is intended to handle audio plug-ins that deliver versatile support for new digital instruments, digital samples and sounds. There is an intuitive virtual racks battery which will connect up to a multi-channel virtual sound mixer to access sound levels across numerous audio channels to get the mix of instruments and sounds just right.
The 3D interface is a standout with V-Raxtor. Filled with shadows, accents and attractive animations that bring the mixing deck to life in a way that most similar applications do not successfully achieve.
Support for VST3, VST3 and ReWire plug-ins can extend the functionality of the software out considerably. DirectSound and ASIO are supported on the audio side with Direct3D and OpenGL supported on the graphical side. Virtual studio control systems can be handled by MIDI.
Installation proceeded without any problems. No extra software was bundled with V-Raxtor.
For people who lack the latest version of DirectX, the software will open the DirectX installer which currently includes an offer to install the Bing (search) bar. To be fair, this is not expressly bundled with V-Raxtor per se, but is really part of the Microsoft DirectX installation.
V-Raxtor comes with a 30 days trial and requires Windows XP, Vista or 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), DirectSound / ASIO-compatible audio, OpenGL 3.3 or higher, and Direct 3D 10 or higher. A MIDI controller or MIDI keyboard is recommended.
The interface for V-Raxtor is filled with blacks and grays to create a sleek-looking appearance that will look create on a large monitor with a black surround or in a darkened club environment.
When first launching, the Preferences dialog window appears with a tabbed interface offering numerous ways to configure the application.
Plug-ins are shown in the bottom-left corner where double-clicking on one of the plug-ins will add that to the audio rack in the main display. There is an extensive Channel Mixer in the bottom-right of the interface with many slider controls and more reveals by using the left-to right scroll bars.
