"DVDINFOPro is a DVD information program."
DVDINFOPro is a DVD information program. It is a scanning tool that creates extensive reports on your DVD drives and other hardware status. It scans your PC profoundly and creates detailed reports on CD, DVD drives, HDD and other important areas of your PC. It is a feature-rich pack comprising tools for DVD-ROM players, DVD+R/RW burners, Blu-ray and HD-DVD, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R Double Layer devices.
Installation pack comes clean from bundled software, or toolbars. The free trial offers 14 days for product evaluation. It has a nag screen, and we would like to compliment developers on its simplicity and transparency of stated terms.
For Windows 95, 98 and ME, DVDINFOPro requires ASPI V4.60. V4.71 is not supported. Windows NT V4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not require ASPI but are compatible with it. DVDINFOPro is Windows XPSP2, Vista, Windows 7 and later compatible.
Technically advanced users will find the GUI here comprehensive and self-descriptive. Novice users, on the other hand, may need some time discovering everything this program can do, and there is a lot to discover. DVDINFOPro offers multiple tools instead of the one that is checking on your DVD burner status.
DVDINFOPro offers tools and reports for Blu-ray and HD-DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW burners, DVD-R DL (Double Layer) burners, DVD+R DL (Double Layer) burners, DVD-ROM players.
You can test Flash RAM size; calculate MD5 of your disc, files and folders; perform a sector test; send custom commands; perform DC erase for QSI/NU drives; display drive supported modes; display media code and blocks from media.
DVDINFOPro creates thorough reports on a specific drive and analyzes system information on the operating system, CPU, BIOS, network. Partitions and memory installed hardware and video card. When launched, it displays a checklist for supported read and write features, as well as general data about your hard drive. One of the features we liked was DVD media information report. You can see manufacturer ID, media type, supported speed, media type.
The tests take a minute or two while the major batch of information is displayed when the tool launches. Overall, it does not load PC resources, but some of the tests may cause your PC to slow down a bit.
In addition, you can compare DVD content with DVD-video, image files and directory content. It is also possible to run a CRC test for errors. Moreover, you can erase or modify DVD+R/RW disc.
We are not sure if MagicBurner comes as a bundle, or as a part of the pack, but it sure is a powerful burner.
When running a CRC-error test, the program slowed down our PC performance.
Novice users may find both the functions and GUI a bit challenging.
AlternativesDVD Identifier offers an easy way of accurately identifying a disc's real manufacturer. VSO-Inspector is a free add-on that gathers statistics on your hardware configuration. Using this tool, you can check the listed CD and DVD readers and writers connected to your computer. For Dell owners, there is a handy diagnostics tool, PC Doctor that can conduct a real-time diagnostics of Dell hardware. Likewise, Digital Media Doctor analyzes, performs tests and fixes problems with all types of removable drives, such as USB flash disks, MP3 players, SD cards.
Overall, DVDINFOPro is a powerful analysis and diagnostics tool for your CD and DVD burners. We wish we could suggest GUI improvements, but the truth is it takes a little bit of technical background to be able to understand what this program can offer. It offers a fast and easy way of analyzing your system.
