Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate 5.0.0

Reviewed by Gary Oldwood

"An all-around video, audio and DVD converter."

Overview

Most video converters have limited functionality that restricts you only to tasks regarding video conversion only. Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate will not only convert videos between a variety of formats, but will also remove DRM protection from files, rip DVDs, burn DVDs and edit videos. All those functions are included in a single program that has an easy to use interface and will help you in many cases.

Installation

The installer is about 35MB and the installation procedure is the same like in most software. Start by selecting the installation wizard’s language and then follow a few steps before the main installation process begins. When it’s over you’ll be asked to join the Customer Experience Improvement Program (you can opt-out by unchecking the corresponding checkbox).

Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate includes no additional software and of course no malicious items (viruses, Trojans, and any type of malware in general).

Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

Interface

The cool and neat interface will instantly attract you. It has 4 buttons at the top (Convert, Burn, Download and Play) and each one has different contents in the main screen. The basic tab (Convert) has a list with all imported media files in the middle along with information about them (duration, resolution, etc.). A pane on the right side allows you to choose output format from a drop-down list, and the bar at the bottom let you select output folder and start the conversion process.

Pros

Let’s talk about its video converting capabilities first. More than 50 media formats are supported, including MP4, WMV, MOV, AVI, FLV, MKV, MTS, M2TS, MPEG, EGP, VIB, WMA, MP3, FLAC etc. If you want to convert files for playback on other devices, then you can select your device from the device list and the program will automatically make the best configurations for it. Some supported devices are iPhone (all editions), iPad/iPad 2, iPod, Samsung Galaxy S (all editions), Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Note, PSP, PS3, XBOX360, as well as devices by Sony, LG, HTC, Nokia, Motorola and others.

In addition, you can burn media files to DVDs using the built-in burning engine. You can define quality (Fit to disc, Standard and High), aspect ratio and where you want to burn the DVD (Disc, Folder or ISO file). You can also choose the TV Standard (PAL or NTSC).

Some video editing functions are available as well; more specifically, you can trim and crop videos, add effects (blur, negative, sepia, black and white, etc.), add watermark (text or image) and even add subtitles.

Cons

No cons here.

Alternatives

Total Video Converter (paid), Freemake Video Converter (free), SUPER© (free), Any Video Converter (freemium) and Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate (paid) are all video converters, with the last one having most similarities with Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate.

Conclusion

Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate is an all-in-one solution for your conversion, burning and casual editing needs. If you’re the kind of user who doesn't want separate programs for all these operations, then this software is your best bet.
