MPEG4 Modifier is a clever app that lets you open a MPEG-4 video (either Xvid or DivX formats) and adjust certain details without the need to re-encode the resulting video output. You can specify the pixel aspect ratio (square, 4:3 PAL, 4:3 NTSC, 16:9 PAL or 16:9 NTSC) and specify the display aspect ratio of 4:3, 16:9 or 2.35:1. To clarify, PAL is the European display format and NTSC is the American display format (which actually uses fewer lines of display so was lower quality). The 4:3 display was a popular format, until the world switched over the widescreen 16:9 display. Beyond the standard video sizes, it's also possible to set your own custom size.
