"Make your games and computer run faster."
GameSwift is a package to optimize how a Windows system will play games. The idea is to make fundamental changes to the Windows operating system which will optimize performance for gaming. This includes reducing the priority of non-essential apps and removing apps that are using up CPU cycles.
Windows itself is an operating system geared more towards productivity than specifically gaming. As a consequence of this there are many tweaks, all delivered through a single "Optimize" button, which can be performed to improve overall performance with games. This can help improve the processor's ability to handle the demands of modern PC games which in turn can help achieve higher frame rates with graphics.
A reduction in RAM memory usage by other applications can make it so that a game has more room to use the available resources which can stop instances where the game lags behind the action, the gamer is suddenly dead and they didn't even see (or hear) it coming! There is no pause, rewind and play that section again with online gaming; your life is just lost. So a package like GameSwift can be helpful for serious gamers who don't always have the very latest, bleeding-edge technology at hand.
The changes that GameSwift makes include a few registry tweaks and some system changes. This can help to free up both RAM and CPU for the game by dialing back on non-essential items and features within Windows that are often left running, but are not usually needed.
The installation process completed quickly and without any issues. There were no malicious programs added during the setup.
GameSwift requires Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. Alternatively, Windows Server 2003, 2008 or 2012 (32-bit or 64-bit).
The interface is a simple, one application window deal. There is a slider to determine how much to boost the speed and how heavily to optimize the windows system. The operating system is usually pre-selected, but a drop-down box lets the user change that selection. The processor is also listed and selectable between Intel and AMD processors.
An "Optimize" button can make the improvements. A "Restore" button can reverse them.
There are also a few menu items down the left side which link to the developer's web site, help options, etc.
With the interface, it is completely clear what to do and how to use the software without the need for any instructions.
- Optimize a computer system to run PC games faster and smoother
- Reduce the in-game lag and pop-ins on the screen which can interrupt the gaming experience
- Increase the frame rates or boost the level of graphical detail the system can handle once optimized
- Enhances memory, CPU prioritization and which apps get full screen ability
- Updates can be performed directly within the application
- Changes applied to Windows, not specific games, which avoids game cheat detection systems creating a false alarm
- Probably best to perform both a backup and set a system restore point before making the system changes
GameSwift is a useful utility for gamers who wish to get the very best out of their existing gaming rig without needing to upgrade their hardware yet again. Windows can be optimized to varying degrees that the gamer can set in order to improve in-game system performance.
Requirements: Pentium 90+ Mhz or Compatible
