"The ultimate Nonograms/Griddlers software!"

Overview

World of CryptoPics is a digital version of the homonymous Japanese puzzle game that can make you keep playing for hours. For those who haven’t heard of this game before, its purpose is to reveal a hidden picture in the puzzle by looking at the number clues. It is very easy to learn, and this software makes it even more entertaining by allowing you to create your own self-drawn puzzles or set the difficulty level. Those are just a couple of unique features that this game has to offer, which is lightweight and simple to use as well.

Installation

The installation package is very small and the installation procedure is simple and quick, without any 3rd party software being installed along with it.

You can play World of CryptoPics in any computer running Windows, as it has no special requirements.

Interface

You can change the window’s theme whenever you wish to. When you open the game you are brought to the main screen where you choose what you want to do. You can start a game, open the puzzle editor, play challenge mode or Nonosweeper mode. If you have questions or don’t know exactly how the game works, then you can click on the “How to Play” button for instructions. All those features can be chosen from the menu bar too, with the addition of the options menu.

Pros

Many pre-made puzzles are included in this game so that you won’t get easily bored. And for even more fun, there is a large number of puzzle libraries available for download on the authors website.

For the creative ones there is the Editor mode, in which you can create your own puzzles. All you have to do there is just click on the blocks you wish to mark them and form the picture you want this way. You also have the ability to edit the pre-made puzzles or make new ones from image files.

The Challenge mode is quite interesting, as you get to play puzzles with an increasing difficulty level every time and with the clock as your opponent.

Nonosweeper is another game mode, which is basically a Minesweeper version of CryptoPics.

Cons

The game doesn’t lack anything, it is fully customizable and has no annoying bugs so there is nothing really that can be considered as a con.

In the trial version there are some restrictions, for example there are no arcade and mineweeper rules, the challenge mode has very few puzzles and there is no option to print out puzzles. Its functionality might seem a bit too limited, but it is reasonable since the developer put a lot of effort in this software and should be supported.

Alternatives

Nonogram Deluxe is an alternative created by Novel Games. You can either download and install it or you can just play the online flash version from the author’s website. Compared to World of CryptoPics it has very few features and puzzles, but has a more user-friendly interface. An online service for playing this game is puzzle-nonograms.com, which has quite many features and puzzles to play with.

Conclusion

World of CryptoPics is possibly the best software for playing CryptoPics in your computer, as it is easy to use and has many functions and tools that make the game more enjoyable. It's best to remember the addictive nature of this game, with its complex puzzles that will test your brain power. It may be best to prepare for hours of non-stop thinking!
