Prime95 30.19 Build 14

If you’re a mathematician, you’re going to enjoy working with Prime95. It was created to help you quickly identify Meresenne Prime numbers. Prime numbers are numbers that only divide by one and themselves. GIMPS, the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search holds the world records for finding prime numbers. Mersenne Prime numbers are prime numbers that follow the formula 2P-1.  At this moment only 40 such numbers have been found and it’s your job to help find he next one.

Here’s how it works:

• In order to use this program, you are required to have a modern PC, capable of handling many mathematical operations (preferably 1.4 GHz processors or faster), an Internet connection that will “talk” to the PrimeNet and loads of patience (nothing noteworthy is discovered in just a day, right?)
• In case you just found a new Mersenne prime, you will be notified and you may even receive some cash compensation for it
• You will get a username and computer name to connect to the PrimeNet and to make sure any discovery is credited to you
• The prime numbers are tested either by trying to find the factors or by the Lucas-Lehmer test
