"Take Notes, Set Reminder."
There are many ways to keep notes in your computer. The simplest one is to create a text file with them, but that’s not very efficient. Instead, using X Sticky Notes is a better option; it will let you create sticky notes that are displayed in your screen, while it gives you the power to customize them by changing skin, font attributes, attaching files, pasting copied text or connecting the note with an open window/program.
Installation is very easy to perform. The number of steps you need to follow is small and the settings you have to configure are very few as well. The setup package isn’t bundled with adware, viruses and other types of malware and doesn’t install additional 3rd party software either.
X Sticky Notes can run under Windows 2003, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 (32 and 64-bit systems supported).
The notes themselves are very small in size by default, but you can resize them manually if you wish. Each note has a random skin when created (it can be changed too). Attaching an image file in them will display its thumbnail on the note, which can be of small, medium or large size. Attaching any other type of file will just show its icon.
When a note is active you can see an arrow at the bottom, which expands the note with 6 menu tabs when the mouse hovers above it: Skin, Align, Font, Insert, Stick and More. Each tab has various items and they all serve as the program’s features. Right-clicking anywhere on a note will open a menu with the same items.
Starting from the program’s interface, you can change a note’s skin easily and use one from the several built-in skins, or create a custom one using the Wizard. Apart from the built-in ones you can download skins created and uploaded by other users.
The text font in a note can be adjusted in various ways, as you can use bold, italic, underline, strikeout, change the font, its size and color. You can align it as well.
Attaching files to notes is supported too. Simply drag and drop an item into the note, or use the “Insert” menu item. From there you can also paste copied text or enter a date.
There’s another function in the program which allows you to embed a file into a program or a window. Doing this will create a small button at the top right corner of the window/program, clicking on which will open the associated note.
The difference between Lite and Full version is only the limit on the number of notes you can create (Lite version has a limit on how many notes you can create).
In version 220.127.116.11 an important feature was added: Sync Anywhere. This allows you to sync your notes across computers by uploading them to the cloud, and later on, reading them from another computer. See the entire changelog at http://www.xstickynotes.com/Update.htm.
Fixed in version 18.104.22.168:Â The navigation system depends solely on mouse hover and not mouse click, which sometimes makes it hard to select an option from the tabs as they keep changing due to accidental mouse hover on other tabs.
X Sticky Notes is a wonderful product with many features which keeps getting better with every version.
