"Spot problems before they hurt"
Syspectr is a monitoring software package that is capable of handling the hardware, software, connectivity issues and USB device access for corporate networks. The software has a web interface which can be accessed via any modern standards-compliant web browser.
Hardware, software, internet connectivity and other aspects of managing the IT architecture for a corporation can all be managed in real-time using Syspectr. The software will monitor both internal IP addresses and external IP addresses for any issues and alert the administrators so that they can address them.
Computers on the network can be viewed in real-time. When a USB device is plugged into a computer on the network, a warning can be sent over the network to alert the right people to a possible threat from viruses or malware stored on the USB thumb drive.
Hard drives can also receive intensive testing in order to determine which ones look like they will fail fairly quickly and need replacing sooner rather than later.
There are three version of the Spectr software: Free, Pro and Enterprise. The Pro and Enterprise operate under a monthly subscription basis. The Free software can be installed on up to 5 PCs at the same time.
It is necessary to create a O&O Spectr account before proceeding with the installation. When the user does not already have one (as most won't) then a new account can be created inside the installation app.
An email has to be given and a confirmation email is dispatched. The password for the account is a bit tricky and the sign up instructions need to be read carefully there. The application then verifies whether there is a newer version of the app before commencing the actual installation process.
The installation completed without issue after the account was created with O&O, the developers of the Spectr app. Once the installation was completed, the user was advised that they can log into the O&O Spectr web site to view detailed information.
There were no malicious software additions to the software that anyone needs to be concerned about.
Syspectr requires Windows OS and a modern web browser.
The web interface is elegant with a slim dark gray header with notices about alerts, contacts, feedback and user access information.
The connected computers are shown on the next level down with a separate darkened area for each computer. A large icon indicates its current status including a green tick for all good, a red explanation mark for problems, and a blue hourglass to indicate there is some planned activity on that computer.
A list of the recent events is shown below the connected computer area and a link to more historical information is also available on the right side.
