"Taskbar Tweaker for Windows"
If you think your workflow in Windows 7/8 could be optimized by adjusting only a few small things in your computer, or better yet, just in your taskbar, then you have to try out 7+ Taskbar Tweaker. This handy utility, which was initially created for Windows 7 and later having its functionality expanded over to Windows 8 too, will let you change and add plenty of additional features in the taskbar ranging from displaying seconds on the clock, to closing programs with the middle mouse button.
As soon as you launch the installer you’ll be prompted to choose the language used during the procedure. In the window that will open afterwards you’ll have to select which components you want to install along with the main program (start menu and desktop shortcuts- you can also choose “Portable” in the installation type to make a portable installation of the program if you wish). After selecting the installation directory in the next step, the main installation process will start.
Although some anti-virus software might pick it up as a malicious program, it’s just a false positive and there’s no need to worry about it (it’s 100% clean and the reason it might be detected is because it injects into the explorer and modifies its memory- something that is usually performed by malware). There are no additional 3rd party software installed along with the main program either.
Supported OS are Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
7+ Taskbar Tweaker runs in the background and you’ll only have to use its interface when you want to make changes to the way it works. The main window is filled mainly with radio buttons and checkboxes, all of which have an effect on the taskbar and its functionality. The settings are grouped and organized relatively well, with enough space between them.
You can access the main window from the tray icon’s context menu. From there you can also access the settings window, the advanced options window and the Taskbar Inspector (a small window which displays a list of open program in the taskbar).
Let’s take a look at the available settings. It allows you to adjust right-click actions on taskbar items (open jump list or open standard window menu), middle-click actions (open a new program instance, switch to that window, minimize or close it), define the action to take when dropping files on taskbar items (pin the file to that program or open it with it), on mouse hover show list, tooltip, thumbnail preview or do nothing, remove gap between pinned items on the taskbar or open them with double-click, as well as a couple more. And those are just the options for taskbar items, there are still options for grouping and combining plus other misc taskbar options. Those include disabling grouping completely or grouping by application ID, combining using taskbar settings or disabling combining, using the mouse wheel to cycle between taskbar buttons, minimize/restore windows or adjust volume and several other settings that you’ll find interesting, to say the least.
7+ Taskbar Tweaker is a lightweight tool that consumes a minimum amount of RAM, so you shouldn’t experience any slowdown in your machine after installing it.
The program is translated into 22 languages.
There are no alternatives for this unique app. At least none that we know of.
If you’re a Windows 7 or 8 user, then you should definitely try out 7+ Taskbar Tweaker- chances are that you’ll love it.
