Total Recorder records streaming audio directly from systems like RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Internet telephony programs (Skype, Google Talk, etc.). While recording Internet-telephony conversations, recording of both parties are possible. It can also record audio from cassette tapes, LPs, DVDs, CDs or through a microphone connected to your PC. If you are looking for a way of recording such audio for future personal listening, Total Recorder is AN IDEAL solution!

As opposed to majority of recording software, Total Recorder records sound from another software in digital format directly without a conversion. It is possible to perform recording in any of supported sound formats: WAV, MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and APE; under Win 7 also MPEG-4 and 3GP.

You can use both regular recording and recording through built-in or an external scheduler. Total Recorder Standard supports playlists in M3U, PLS and WPL formats and allows working with file tags. The program also can be used as a converter between any of the supported formats.

Total Recorder supports free and trial add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, and send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.

The new functionality, implemented in version 8.3 of Total Recorder Standard Edition, includes support for MOV (playback only), MPEG-4 and 3GP files with AAC audio streams under Windows 7, support for the following tag fields for all types of files: "Album Artist", "ISRC", and "beats per minute"; along with other minor enhancements.
