BYOND is a program suite that can play games, create games, and host multiplayer servers for players to join. Creating games is easy with little or no experience required, but the engine uses a robust and flexible programming language that allows for more than just simple stuff. Online support is built in, which sets BYOND apart from most other game makers.

Besides the software itself, BYOND is also a whole community of players and indie developers. Online there are hundreds of games created by users, with more being added all the time. For those who want to make their own games, tutorials and programming tips are available.

BYOND specializes in 2D tile-based games, but it can do a lot more. It has been used to create action games, puzzles, strategy games, multiplayer RPGs, board and card games, word games, and even online chat servers. Each game can be made with a custom interface to feel like a seamless experience.
