"Convert text files between various formats."

Overview

Converting between different types of files is essential for some people, and when it comes down to professionalism there’s no space for mistakes. That’s why to convert between various types of documents you need a software that can do the job exactly how you want it and without giving you problems every time you try to perform a conversion task. AVS Document Converter can convert between DOCX, PDF, TXT, HTML, TIFF, JPEG and other file types, add watermarks to protect the documents, and when you’re done you can add them into a ZIP archive and password protect it.

Installation

There’s nothing worth noting here because the installation is very easy to complete. The only important setting you have to make is choose whether you want to enable context menu integration so that you can add files directly to the program’s conversion list. AVS Document Converter is 100% clean from viruses, spyware and other kinds of malware - see report.

Supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

Interface

On the left hand side of the window is a pane that contains the available output formats and 4 sliding menus (Format Settings, Merge, Rename and Extract Images). You can see the contents of open documents on the center part of the window, and when you have multiple files open then you can switch between them using tabs. After making the appropriate settings click the “Convert Now!” to start the conversion process.

Pros

Your files can be converted to PDF, DOC, DOCX, Image (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, GIF), HTML, ODT, RTF and eBook.

You can add a watermark to your documents in case you want to prevent counterfeiting and restrict permissions (editing, printing and copying content). For extra protection, you can create a ZIP archive of the converted documents and add password protection to it; of course you can do that using a program for managing archives, but AVS Document Converter has this function implemented in it in order to do it directly from the program and save time.

You can merge and rename documents, as well as extract images from them and save them in a specified directory.

When you’re done converting, use the “Send by Email” function to attach the converted documents in an email and send it using your default email software.

Cons

No cons found in this program. It works fine and we have no complaints.

Alternatives

Universal Document Converter (paid) is a software that gives you the ability to convert between several types of files, similarly to AVS Document Converter. It installs as a virtual printer, allowing you to use it from any application that supports printing of files. Document Converter Pro (paid) is an alternative too, and even though it’s not as known it is quite good since it gives you the power to convert between many file formats.

Conclusion

AVS Document Converter does an exceptional job at converting documents. It has a lot of functions and is very easy to use, so newbies won’t have a problem getting familiar with it. A 5 star product definitely.
