Overview

ICEBERGO is a completely free accounting software that helps businesses improve their finances through data recording and management. This program is an essential tool for any business owner who wants to maximize profitability, simplify tax filing, and regularly assess their business progress and profitability.

Installation

With a download size of almost 60 MB this software is pretty large in comparison to most other freeware, but makes up for the extra disk space consumption with the sheer volume of features it provides. After completing the installation you'll need to use the username 'Admin' and password '12345' to log into the software for the first time.

Interface

The user interface is typical of an accounting software because it is very gridlike, well-organized, and office-oriented. You can tell the layout wasn't intended to be extremely aesthetically appealing, but is specifically designed to facilitate productivity. The design and color theme are very similar to that of Microsoft Office, with a Home tab in the top left corner that is divided into two sections – Icebergo (provides access to the 'Contact Us' and 'About' sections) and 'Tools' (provides access to the 'Counter' and 'Calculator' by default, as well as a 'Delete Record' button).

Most of the functionality can be accessed via the 'Keyboard' window in the center of the screen, which features a large 'Search' button in the center that lets you quickly locate and display documents you've created in the software. There are also six color-coded buttons that provide access to Sales, Receipts, Statement, Purchase, Payment, and Ledger templates.

• After choosing a template from the 'Keyboard' window you'll be shown a 'Settings' menu that lets you customize every aspect of the document you're about to begin working on

Cons

• Some document templates may not close when you click the 'X' in the top right corner, so you may need to utilize the "Close Form" icon in the bottom left corner instead. However, this is more of a minor nuisance than a major disadvantage.

Alternatives

Other notable accounting software include GNUCash, Homebank, and Quicken, all of which carry functionality that is equal to or greater than ICEBERGO. Of these competitors, Quicken is by far the most popular and powerful, however the full version is not free.
