"Fastest Video Cutter, Splitter and Joiner"

Overview

Bandicut is a modern video editing software that focuses on splitting video files to multiple segments. It has the benefit of cutting videos without re-encoding, consequently keeping the quality as high as possible (no quality loss form the original file). Even though it lacks other features found on more professional software, it is still a program that can handle easily and quickly video splitting tasks. Keep on reading for more details.

Installation

The installation is very easy and quick, as you will notice. Once you run the installer you will be prompted to select the preferred installation language. Then the installation wizard will come up and guide you through the steps for completing installing Bandicut. There are no advanced settings required; only the basic shortcut and installation directory ones.

The installation package contains nothing suspicious or malicious, such as viruses, trojans, spyware, or even 3rd party advertised apps.

The program supports the following operating systems: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 (32 and 64-bit systems supported).

Interface

After the installation has finished, Bandicut's main window will open. It has a modern interface, with green, black and grey being its main colors.

The window consists of two main parts: a) the screen, in which you can view the frames of the video that you’re editing as well as use the playback controls, and b) the segment controls, where all available features are located.

To get started, you can open a file by clicking on the button located on the bottom left corner of the window. Then you may start splitting the video according to your liking.

Pros

You have the following ways in which you can edit the imported files:

First, you can split the video into several segments. In order to do that, you just have to set the starting and ending points of the segment that you want to create, and then click on the “Start” button located on the bottom right corner of the window. You can either set the points by moving the arrow buttons in the timeline bar, or you can manually set the starting/ending position in the duration box (you can adjust the starting/ending points by setting the desired times and the frames).

Then, you can extract the audio as an MP3 file from the imported video file. You can either extract the audio from the whole video file, or you can just keep the audio only from the segments that you cut earlier. To do this, the process is the same as before, but when you click the “Start” button, you have to check the “Extract audio tracks (.mp3)” option from the Output settings window too.

Similarly, you have the ability to remove unwanted parts after you select them, or even merge them.

When you process the videos in order to finalize the changes you made to them, you have two available modes: High-Speed mode and Encoding mode. The first one is fast and lossless, while the second one is slower and lets you customize output file format, quality and codec used.

Various file formats are supported: AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV, MPEG, DAT, FLV and many others.

Hardware accelerated H.264 video encoders are supported. Additionally, several compression codecs are supported too (e.g. H.264 and Xvid).

The program’s website offers in-depth guides for every possible usage of the program.

Cons

It doesn't have any cons.

Alternatives

Here are some good alternatives that do the same job (more or less): Boilisoft Video Splitter (paid), SolveigMM Video Splitter (paid), Free Video Dub (free), AVS Video ReMaker (paid), Weeny Free Video Cutter (free).

Conclusion

Bandicut is a great choice for those who want to have a lot of control over the process of splitting video files. It is simple, easy to use, has an extended functionality and also provides detailed help files.
