The InstalledCodec package can display all the current Codec drivers and also DirectShow filters that are presently installed in the computer. With each displayed component it is possible to see its Display Name, Type, Disabled Status, Installed/Modified Time, Description, Company Name, Filename, and many more pieces of information. The tool allows the user to click on a codec and disable its sound capabilities completely. This can help to isolate whether an audio distortion is coming from during a testing phase or to see which codec sounds best. A list of the codecs and DirectShow filters can be exported to a plain text, HTML or XML file.
