Hddb is an alternative to the Everything search app. The creator of Hddb did not like certain aspects to how Everything operates including the slower startup upon boot-up and the updating of the indexing. With first running Everything it requires a UAC approval via a prompt which can slow down startup, but this application aims to offer no requirement for approval so users can search faster. This version needs to be rescanned manually each time to update itself, whereas Everything auto scans. The creator of Hddb prefers things to run that way. Searching is said to be almost as fast as with Everything. So if you prefer to not have the prompt after start-up when auto-loading Everything, then maybe Hddb is one option.
