"Multipurpose personal organizer software PIM"

Overview

PowerAG Personal Information Manager, as the name suggests it, is a personal information management tool designed to contain and handle all your personal information – emails, phone numbers, contact details, references to images, text messages and more. The tool seems powerful and comprehensive, but an outdated interface makes it a hard sell, even though the $7 price is not high.
Let us take a look at how this software performs.

Installation

PowerAG installs in sandbox, but refuses to run in a virtual environment. Outside a sandbox, it does install smoothly and does not seem to bring any third-party bundles and toolbars. Installation wizard asks which components you would like to install additionally, such as a desktop link and the like, but you can opt out without any consequences for the installation process itself.

There are not many requirements, but the Dotnet framework. The inevitable nag screen appears if you are in the demo mode. The demo version offers unlimited functionality but is limited in time, of course.

Features

You can manage your passwords, address book, contacts, phone numbers and all things you consider relevant to your personal information.
In addition, you can do the automatic backup, data scheduling; use the advanced search feature; have an unlimited number of database entries and receive free software updates.

Pros

PowerAG is without a doubt a multifunctional personal information organizer with powerful features and ample set of tools. You can protect your personal information with a password for some peace of mind in terms of privacy and security.

You can import and export data in a variety of formats: xls, pdf, doc and txt, which is very convenient.

The price is quite affordable, and advance search and unlimited number of entries in the database are all useful features.

Cons

Despite the ample set of tools, PowerAG fails to impress with an outdated GUI. Nowadays, there are just too much personal information managers that offer free management tools and better user interfaces. Even though this software does not suggest a learning curve, and you can start using it once the installation is complete, it still is not the most intuitive GUI we have seen in personal information managers niche.

Alternatives

Microsoft Office Outlook remains one of the most powerful solutions for personal data management. On the other hand, Google offers more than ample, integrated and most importantly free personal information management tool. In Google account, you have Gmail to process your emails, you have Android synchronization that stores your address book in your Google account, you have Google Voice to manage your phone calls, you have Google Calendar to manage your schedule, and this is just the cream of the crop because Google has so many tools for personal information management it requires a separate review.
Evolution is a GNOME project and is good for Linux OS, and combines address book, calendar, email and task management tools. EssentialPIM is Windows, Android and iOS compatible and allows you to manage anything from contacts to tasks, passwords and messages across multiple devices via cloud storage.

Conclusion

PowerAG comes at an affordable price and comprises all the essential and advanced features a personal info manager should contain. You can import and export data in the basic formats, store passwords and protect your database by a password. Scheduling, tracking, keeping financial information about your customers can be made pretty easy with this tool. You may want to install the demo version and see if you like the feel of the GUI.
